CODE AND REGULATORY INFORMATION
Under the Hazard Communication Standard of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Material Safety Data Sheets are required for Flexco adhesives. These sheets may be requested from Flexco Customer Service at 800-633-3151 or via e-mail to Flexco Customer Service.  According to the Standard, MSDS’s are required for all hazardous chemicals; however, it specifically exempts all "articles" from this requirement [29 CRF 1910.1200(b)(6)(v)].

By definition of the Standard, "article" means "a manufactured item other than a fluid or particle: (i) which is formed to a specific shape or design during manufacture; (ii) which has end use function(s) dependent in whole or in part upon its shape or design during end use; and (iii) which under normal conditions of use does not release more than very small quantities, e.g. minute or trace amounts of a hazardous chemical (as determined under paragraph (d) of this section), and does not pose a physical hazard or health risk to employees. "

All of Flexco’s rubber tile and sheet products, vinyl tile products, ESD products, rubber and vinyl wall base products, rubber and vinyl stair treads and nosings, and all other extruded or molded flooring products and accessories are considered "articles" according to the above definition and are exempt from the MSDS requirements.

In addition, all of Flexco’s extruded and molded flooring products and accessories are not reportable under SARA III, Sections 311 and313. The Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Acts exempts substances present as a solid in any manufactured item to the extent exposure of the substance does not occur under normal conditions of use.
