THINK GREEN
At FLEXCO,® we believe responsible manufacturing goes hand-in-hand with environmental
stewardship. That’s why we are active participants in the U.S. Green Building Council’s
LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) program – a voluntary, consensusbased
rating system for calculating the life cycle impact of any building on the environment.
For FLEXCO®, the more we develop environmentally friendly products that can help meet
LEED qualifications, the more we help our flooring partners earn credits that can contribute
to the Green Building Certification System. That’s not just good for the environment, it’s also
good for business.
ENVIROFLEX™
With FLEXCO’s EnviroFlex™ line of rubber and vinyl products, you can design integrated
flooring plans that meet the environmental guidelines of today without compromising
on style.
EnviroFlex systems are manufactured using post-industrial and pre-consumer
waste, recycled substances and other materials. As a result, FLEXCO is able to offer
everything across the entire product line in formulations that perform well without
proving harmful to the environment.
QUALITY THAT MEASURES UP
The LEED Green Building Certification System has established a method for evaluating
performance from a floor-to-ceiling perspective. At FLEXCO, this has given us valuable
feedback on how to create products that are structurally and environmentally sound.
When you take a closer look, it’s clear that the LEED system offers a number of distinct
advantages for architects and builders, as well as product manufacturers:
+ The testing content is representative of the entire building industry. This provides
an objective way to assess the performance of a category of products, such as the
durability, slip resistance and antimicrobial protection of rubber tile, like our PVC free
SpexTones™ line.
+ The process employs standardized energy and environmental principles. This permits
apples-to-apples comparisons of products.
+ The evaluation results are subject to public review. This helps to ensure
manufacturers have the technical data to backup their claims. So when we say our
16/86 Multiperformance Tile & Tread Adhesive contains an antimicrobial agent for
added protection against the growth of bacteria and fungi, you know it’s true.
CHPS
Collaborative for High Performance Schools (CHPS) believes that
healthy,
energy-efficient learning environments promote positive educational
experiences.
Because FLEXCO shares this philosophy, we’ve become a participating
member
in the CHPS program, submitting our product line for emissions testing
in
accordance with their guidelines. The following products meet CHPS
criteria:
+ Wallflowers® Premium Rubber Wall Base and Corners, Base Sculptures™
Wall Base
and Corners, Vinyl Wall Base and Corners and Base 2000™ Wall
Base and Corners.
+ All Textured and Smooth Rubber Tile and Sheet.
+ All Textured and Smooth Rubber Stair Treads.
+ Appeal™, Contract and Health Design Solid Vinyl Tile.
+ Vinyl Stair Treads.
+ Vinyl Accessories.
